Information for companies

The English-taught study programmes Industrial Engineering (PIE) and Mechatronics and Automation (MAP) address students of all nationalities, offering an ideal opportunity to get to know “technology made in Germany.” Interdisciplinary and business-related modules complement the technical aspects of the programme. Due to the universal orientation of the studies, graduates can be employed in various fields of occupation in a wide range of area. Companies value industrial engineers and mechanics for their diverse competencies.

Industrial engineers are particularly suitable for interdisciplinary activities in a company, as they are able to evaluate, organise and optimise processes economically and technically.
Industrial engineers can put the skills and competencies they have acquired into practice in a wide range of areas. In addition to the aforementioned interdisciplinary approach balancing technology and business-related courses, topics such as sustainability and diversity also enhance the graduates’ profiles. Industrial engineers work in purchasing, production planning, product management, quality and project management or technical sales. Later on, they often also fill positions in marketing, finance and controlling.

Mechanical engineers can combine elements from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. They enhance technical systems’ performance during their development and production. In addition, the engineers will learn how to bring complex technical systems into operation, to service and optimise them. During the work terms, students will apply their theoretical knowledge to current tasks in the company. To round off the training, strong project management skills and successful teamwork, also in international teams, are imparted. Engineers in mechatronics/automation are highly sought after in the mechanical engineering and the electrical industries. Their fields of activity include research and development, construction design, production, quality management as well as technical consulting, service and sales. Application fields of mechatronic systems include mechanical, vehicle and plant engineering, automation technology, aerospace technology, information and entertainment technology as well as medical technology.
