Are you an international first-year student and feel like you need some support from a tutor? Would you like to get connected to your fellow students from the start and become part of a network with other tutors and tutees? INTutoring – Information for tutors

Every semester, many students from all over the world begin their studies at HSBI – an exciting time that can also be associated with some uncertainties.

Were you lucky enough to have some support from a friend or a tutor? Or would you have liked such support?

To make it easier for international first-year students to get started and find their way in their new environment, the International Office organises the INTutoring programme. As part of this programme, new international students will be matched with a tutor. The tutors are experienced international HSBI students from higher semesters who provide particular support with questions and challenges in everyday (university) life for the “Erstis” during their first weeks in Bielefeld and during the beginning of the semester

As a tutor, your main tasks include welcoming newly arriving international students and helping them “arrive” at their new study location. This may include picking up your tutee from the train station, accompanying them to their accommodation and showing them the study location and campus. You can also support them through joint activities such as going to the canteen together or going on excursions.

Since the programme is based on volunteering, your tutee and you can decide for yourselves what kind of support you provide.

Of course, you will receive a certificate of your volunteer work from the International Office!
