- Accommodation offers (one offer per exchange student, approx. 2 months before arrival)
- Contact with HSBI students (Buddy programme)
After arrival
- Help through the Buddy programme:
- Assistance on arrival/with moving into the student residence
- Help in dealing with authorities
- Introduction to the university location (campus tour and city rally)
- Freshers’ Weeks:
- Welcome Day with introductory events
- Intercultural training
- Introductory events on life in Germany (“Life Hacks”)
- Introduction to HSBI’s online portals
- Comprehensive leisure programme and networking opportunities
- Intensive German course
- Assistance with rental contracts and questions about accommodation
During the semester
- In-person and online consultations
- First contact for questions, referring students to other departments if necessary
- Leisure activities and cultural events

- Events with the Association to Support International Students in Bielefeld (VISIB)
- Advice on how to extend the stay and visa matters
