VPN

A Virtual Private Network (“VPN”) is a secure access to individual network segments of HSBI. The Data Processing Centre provides so-called VPN connections to the university. Users can set up a VPN connection from their private computers, tablets or smartphones from any location outside the university and thus make them part of the university’s campus network. This is necessary if IT services from the university that you would like to use cannot be accessed from the Internet, e.g. licensed online offers from the library or licensed offers from DVZ’s software portal.

You can use the VPN client free of charge. In order to do so, however, you are required to use the “Cisco AnyConnect” software. The software for desktop systems (Windows, Mac, Linux) is available in DVZ’s software portal; for mobile devices, the software is also available as a free download in the respective app store (for the iPad/iPhone in the App Store, for Android devices in the Google Play Store). For authentication in the VPN client, please use your university login.

The VPN (Remote Access VPN via Cisco AnyConnect) is available 24/7. Maintenance work will be announced in the Aktuelles (news) section. Support is provided by the university’s IT ServiceDesk, unless otherwise specified.
