Mobility Grant

Apply for Mobility Grant

The Mobility Grant is a travel allowance for various stays abroad worldwide. It is financed from HSBI’s own resources.

Applications are possible throughout the year as long as funds are available. The grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who can apply?

All regular HSBI students can apply from the 1st semester onwards.

What is funded?
  • Study-related stays at universities worldwide
  • Theses and term papers at universities or companies worldwide
  • Internships at universities, companies and organisations worldwide
  • Participation in summer/winter schools worldwide

The following stays are not eligible for the grant:

  • Stays abroad for which students already receive a scholarship that is intended to also cover travel expenses (e.g. Erasmus+, HAW.International),
  • Stays in students’ countries of origin if they don’t have German nationality (except if they have mainly resided in Germany for at least five years),
  • Stays in regions for which the Federal Foreign Office has issued a travel warning.
Duration of funding

The Mobility Grant is paid as a one-off travel allowance before the start of the stay.

Scholarship benefits

Please view the allowance rate  for your destination country here.

  • In geographical Europe: €200 one-off payment
  • In other countries: €500 one-off payment

Simultaneous funding through the Promos scholarship, the Green Mobility Grant and/or Auslands-BAföG is possible.

Applying

Applications are possible throughout the year as long as funds are available.

No documents need to be submitted at the time of application. Before the grant is paid out, you must submit a confirmation of the stay abroad, e.g. a letter confirming your study place or internship, a place in a summer/winter school or the confirmation of the supervisor for your thesis or term paper.

Selection procedures and criteria

The Mobility Grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, i.e. according to the order of the eligible applications received. The funding thus depends on the time of application, not on the time of departure or return.

The funding requirements must be fulfilled; no further selection will take place. The funding confirmation is subject to the realisation of the stay abroad and the submission of the completion documents.
Completion documents

After your stay abroad, the following documents must be submitted through the online portal within 30 days:

  • Proof of the realisation of the stay abroad (certificate of stay, internship certificate, etc.),
  • Experience report (guide in the online portal)
