Request Procedure

Registered students can request a leave of absence through the CAT portal during the re-registration periods (1 Dec–28/29 Feb for the summer semester and 1 Jun–31 Aug for the winter semester).

A leave of absence is always granted for the duration of one semester and, if necessary, must be requested again for the next semester. If you are on leave of absence for more than six months, your membership rights and obligations at HSBI will be suspended. Due to the leave of absence, semester and study contributions will no longer be payable, as they do not apply to you. However, you can book the semester ticket and/or the services of the Studierendenwerk for a fee if you wish. In this case, please add a comment (“Ticket” – if you want to book the semester ticket / “Sozialbeitrag” – if you want to use the services of the Studierendenwerk (canteen, childcare, accommodation) / “Ticket und Sozialbeitrag” – if you want to book both) in the online request form.
