Hochschule Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts
HSBI orientates its research profile to the global social challenges of the future, concentrating in particular on the compelling issues of climate and energy, health, mobility and communication.
It amalgamates its research activities in institutes and in key research and development areas. It promotes the outstanding research work of individual scientists. Young scientists are qualified in further education courses and in doctoral programmes in collaboration with other universities.
The diversity of HSBI can be seen from the wide range of humanities, arts, natural sciences and engineering subjects on offer in the prospectus. This diversity forms the basis for the distinct interdisciplinary nature of the research initiatives.
There are currently five research institutes and one research network at HSBI. There are also numerous research projects, some involving other universities, institutions or companies and other external partners. Early stage researchers are qualified through cooperative doctorates and via the Graduate School for Applied Research in North Rhine-Westphalia (Promotionskolleg NRW).
The close cross-linking of science, business and society is of crucial importance for regional development.
The university and the participating companies and institutes benefit from the transfer of technology. The university makes available its diverse expertise to devise solutions for real-life scientific challenges. Students can apply their knowledge and skills while professors orientate their teaching in line with the latest academic findings and practice.
Degree courses and professional experience are followed up with further education and training within the scope of lifelong learning. Our prospectus offers a wide range from single seminars to postgraduate master’s degrees and new programmes are being added all the time.
