Green Mobility Grant

The Green Mobility Grant is a travel allowance for travel with low-emission means of transport in Europe. It is financed from HSBI’s own resources.

Applications are possible throughout the year as long as funds are available. The grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Almost half a million journeys take place annually in the university sector, with corresponding effects on the environment. HSBI wants to encourage all internationally mobile students to use transport with lower carbon emissions as an alternative to flying.

Finding bus and train connections

The website erasmusbytrain helps you book easy and cheap bus and train connections within Europe.

Scholarship benefits
Applications

Applications are possible throughout the year as long as funds are available.

  1. If you are applying for an Erasmus+ grant (for studies or internship), you can apply for the Green Mobility Grant as part of the Erasmus+ application. The Green Mobility Grant can be combined with Erasmus+ Green Travel.
  2. If you are not applying for an Erasmus+ grant, please send the completed application form (see download box) to: international.office@hsbi.de

No documents need to be submitted at the time of application. Before the grant is paid out, you must submit a confirmation of the stay abroad, e.g. a letter confirming your study place or internship, a place in a summer/winter school or the confirmation of the supervisor for your thesis or term paper.

Selection procedures and criteria

The Green Mobility Grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, i.e. according to the order of the eligible applications received. The funding thus depends on the time of application, not on the time of departure or return.

The funding requirements must be fulfilled; no further selection will take place. The funding confirmation is subject to the realisation of the stay abroad and the submission of the completion documents.
Completion documents

After your stay abroad, the following documents must be submitted through the online portal within 30 days. There is no need to submit separate completion documents for participation in the Erasmus+ programme.

  • Proof of the realisation of the stay abroad (certificate of stay, internship certificate, etc.),
  • Proof of the use of low-emission means of transport (tickets or similar),
  • Experience report (Please see download box for guide & cover page)
