https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/5786
Lammers, KlaraInternational Society for Third Sector Research2024People with mental disorders are at increased risk of unemployment due to causal and selective effects. Empirical studies show that in Germany, a high proportion of those receiving benefits from the authorities responsible for employment promotion (‘Job Centres’), are affected by mental illness. This target group hardly benefits from fluctuations in the labour market and thus experiences permanent exclusion from social participation through work. Within the Job Centres, people with mental disorders often do not find the support conditions they would need to stabilise their life situation. High caseloads, standardised procedures and the possibility of sanctions in case of non-compliance often prevent a trustful counselling relationship and support that is oriented towards the individuality of each person.
The present study is located in a model project that tries to achieve better access to this group of people by implementing a peer support approach. So-called peer support volunteers are people who experienced a mental illness themselves, were able to overcome it and now support Job Centre-clients on a voluntary basis. They work in a triangular relationship with Job Centre staff, are supposed to facilitate the establishment of trust and to gain access to subjective perceptions of the clients.
The empirical question addressed in this paper refers to the implementation of a voluntary peer support approach in the organisational context of the Job Centre: To what extent do institutional framework conditions and practices effect peer support volunteers and how does peer support shape the institution and lead to changes? The question is embedded in a larger qualitative study following a grounded theory approach and uses 31 problem-centred interviews and 6 focus group discussions with peer support volunteers as data basis.
With regard to empirical findings, the analysis of the data shows that peer support and the institutional context influence each other. On the one hand, the Job Centre framework shapes the peer support volunteers’ support activities and restricts their ability to act at certain points – for example, when it comes to benefit regulations, perceived institutional targets or role conflicts in relation to the employees. On the other hand, it becomes clear that the peer support volunteers bring about changes in institutional practices and in the actions and attitudes of the staff. By talking about their own perceptions in the position as clients, they bring in the perspective of those affected. In addition, changes in the framework conditions of counselling within the project (e.g. lower caseloads, meetings outside the official context) have an impact on the support and distinguishes it from the regular context.https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/5786enginfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessLammers K. https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/5779
Balzereit, KajaSoni, NehalBünte, AndreasRocha , Ana PaulaSteels , Luc van den Herik, Jaap2023The order picking process in a manufacturing supermarket is central in many industrial productions as it ensures that the items required for production are provided at the right time. However, the order picking process itself often is a black box, i.e., the time it takes to pick an order and the dependencies in the process that influence the time usually are not exactly known. In this work, we highlight the potentials of creating explainable predictions of order picking times using Artificial Intelligence methods. The prediction is based on the analysis of a historic database and on a linear regression analysis that learns the dependencies in the data. From this prediction, (1) the potential of identifying features having a high and a low influence on the order picking time, (2) the potential of optimizing the order picking process itself, and (3) the potential of optimizing depending processes are identified. For prediction, we utilize the regression methods LASSO and Decision Tree.https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/5779engSCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publicationsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/doi/10.5220/0011677000003393info:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/isbn/978-989-758-623-1info:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessBalzereit K, Soni N, Bünte A. Karau, FabianLeuer, MichaelIEEE2024Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) and Hardware in the Loop (HiL) are widely used in the development of complex control algorithms, as they speed up the development process. Often, expensive, special RCP systems are used. As standard automation hardware, such as an industrial PC (IPC), is nowadays also very powerful and reliable but at the same time cheaper, it can also be used as an RCP system. An RCP workflow is demonstrated in which code for a programmable logic controller (PLC) is generated from Simulink models and executed on a Beckhoff IPC. Desktop simulation, hardware-in-the-loop simulation and the results on the real system are presented using Model Predictive Control of an experimental test setup of a seesaw system.https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/5808engIEEEinfo:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/doi/10.1109/IECON55916.2024.10905274info:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessKarau F, Leuer M. Battermann, SvenGonschorek, Karl-Heinz2008Dieser Beitrag behandelt das derzeit in der Normung (CISPR/A/WG2) diskutierte Emissions-Messverfahren oberhalb 1 GHz in der Vollabsorberkammer. Dabei wird eine V-Typ logarithmisch-periodische Antenne mit der Doppelsteg-Breitband-Hornantenne verglichen. https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/2347deuVDE Verlag GmbHinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessBattermann S. Grüttemeier, NielsBalzereit, KajaSoni, NehalBünte, AndreasIEEE2023We consider the problem of scheduling production jobs on a single machine with sequence dependent family setup times and individual job deadlines. Given a set of jobs, the goal is to minimize the total time to process all jobs while every job meets its deadline. We study algorithms that compute an exact solution to the problem. Motivated by one example use case, we exploit a natural structural observation that occurs in many production settings: the number of product configurations may be significantly smaller than the total number of jobs. We identify an algorithm that is efficient in this setting in terms of performance. We experimentally evaluate its running time and compare it with two other natural approaches of exact job scheduling.https://www.hsbi.de/publikationsserver/record/5778engIEEEinfo:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/doi/10.1109/INDIN51400.2023.10218249info:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessGrüttemeier N, Balzereit K, Soni N, Bünte A. Hildebrandt, FraukeScheidt, AlexanderHildebrandt, AndreaHédervári-Heller, ÉvaDreier, Annette2016Die Interaktion zwischen pädagogischer Fachkraft und Kind ist eine zentrale Qualitätsdimension in der frühen Bildung. A, Hildebrandt A, Hédervári-Heller É, Dreier A. <dc:description>People with mental disorders are at increased risk of unemployment due to causal and selective effects.
In addition, changes in the framework conditions of counselling within the project (e.g. lower caseloads, meetings outside the official context) have an impact on the support and distinguishes it from the regular context.</dc:description>

<dc:description>The order picking process in a manufacturing supermarket is central in many industrial productions as it ensures that the items required for production are provided at the right time. For prediction, we utilize the regression methods LASSO and Decision Tree.</dc:description>

<dc:description>Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) and Hardware in the Loop (HiL) are widely used in the development of complex control algorithms, as they speed up the development process. Desktop simulation, hardware-in-the-loop simulation and the results on the real system are presented using Model Predictive Control of an experimental test setup of a seesaw system.</dc:description>
</dc:description>

<dc:description>We consider the problem of scheduling production jobs on a single machine with sequence dependent family setup times and individual job deadlines. We experimentally evaluate its running time and compare it with two other natural approaches of exact job scheduling.</dc:description>

</dc:description>
