Especially nanofiber mats from biopolymers promote cell growth for wound healing, tis-sue engineering or other biotechnological applications. These materials, however, are often not stable at high temperatures, which makes sterilization challenging. The paper discusses sterilization methods, a comparison of different biopolymer blends for cell growth, and the influence of vacuum ultraviolet irradia-tion (VUV) and plasma treatment on cell growth and adhesion on electrospun nanofiber mats.
