Abstract
Sol-gel finishes can be used to provide textiles a hydrophobic or oleophobic finish. The stability of such functionalization of the textile surface still presents a big challenge. Hence, in a joint project of the LZH (Laser Center Hanover) and the FTB (Research Institute for Textiles and Clothing), different sequences of laser and sol-gel treatments of a polyester fabric were examined with regard to their hydrophobic characteristics and their permanence.
