{"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"department":[{"_id":"102"}],"date_updated":"2024-04-04T10:23:55Z","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"In recent years Electroencephalography (EEG) technology\r\nhas evolved to such an extent that controlling software with\r\nthe bare mind is no longer impossible. In addition, with the\r\nmarket introduction of various commercial devices even\r\nprivate households can now afford to purchase a (simplified)\r\nEEG device. This unlocks new prospects for the development\r\nof user interfaces. Especially people with severe\r\nphysical disabilities could benefit by facilitating common\r\ndifficulties (e.g. in terms of mobility or communication)\r\nbut also for specific purposes such as making music.\r\nThe goal of our work is to evaluate the applicability of a\r\ncheap, commercial EEG headset to be used as an input\r\ndevice for new musical interfaces (NIMEs).
