Their “smartness” is enabled by embedded or added electronics and allows the sensing of defined parameters of their environment as well as actuating according to these sensor data. For this purpose, different sensors (e.g., temperature, strain, light sensors) and actuators (e.g., LEDs or mechanical actuators) are embedded and connected with a power supply, a data processor, and internal/external communication.\r\n ","lang":"eng"}],"publication_identifier":{"eissn":["2673-8392"]},"tmp":{"short":"CC BY (4.0)","image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"publication_status":"published","year":"2021","license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","article_type":"review","_id":"1628","status":"public","date_created":"2022-01-01T14:41:55Z","publication":"Encyclopedia","title":"Electronic Textiles","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Ehrmann_Ehrmann_2021, title={Electronic Textiles}, volume={1}, DOI={10.3390/encyclopedia1010013}, number={1}, journal={Encyclopedia}, publisher={MDPI AG}, author={Ehrmann, Guido and Ehrmann, Andrea}, year={2021}, pages={115–130} }","ama":"Ehrmann G, Ehrmann A.
